The Shugarts' family is giving a lesson on early recruiting.
Klein offensive lineman J.B. Shugarts and his father Bret Shugarts could teach Recruiting 101 to future prospects and their families. Both have been tirelessly pounding the pavement by sending out video to numerous college programs. That has equaled verbal offers that are growing by the day.
"We had a highlight video made and we have mailed it with an information sheet on J.B. to schools he's interested in," Bret says. "Then we follow up with a call to the coaches after we feel they have received the video. It's a dead period right now for college coaches, but we can call them."

The Shugarts are contacting numerous college coaches across the country and the sophomore prospect had received verbal offers from Miami, Michigan and Texas A&M as of last week. Florida, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech have all verbally offered Shugarts this week.
It should also be mentioned that Shugarts is a 6-foot-7, 290-pound, first-team, all-district selection as a sophomore. Once the film shows up, it seems to be only a matter of time before verbal offers follow.
Shugarts will be entering his junior year of football this coming fall.
