Show-Me State star taking his time
Ozark, Mo., outside linebacker Jake Schermer is ranked as the Show Me State’s No. 16 player and with one Division I offer already on the table, he’s hoping to pick up a few more as his senior season rapidly approaches. And he’s done the work to get those offers.

“The main thing that I’m better at is reading,” Schermer said. “I’m better at reading the guards pulling and watching out for the double-teams. I also think I’ve just matured and a lot bigger. I can just feel that I’m better because of those things, too.”
Schermer will play both ways some this year, helping him also show off his blocking stills.
“They put me at tight end some this year,” he said. “That helps me. It helps me keep my feet moving and work on my drive blocking.”
With offers from Kansas and SMS on the table, Schermer said he’s looking forward to September 1 – the first day that college coaches can call again.
“So far Kansas is the only big offer I have,” he said. “And there is nothing wrong with that. I already took an unofficial visit up there, and the coaches were really nice. I just want to see what else is out there. There is nothing wrong with Kansas, but I’m going to take my time.”
Iowa, Tulsa, Missouri and Kansas State are schools that have shown him a lot of interest at this point also, but those schools have yet to offer.
