THE LATEST: Jamien Sherwood isn’t interested in keeping secrets for the sake of keeping secrets. He’s not attempting to build drama or hide his feelings when it comes to potential colleges.
Instead, the four-star safety taking an open-book approach. It’s why he gets to the point when asked to name the frontrunners in his recruitment.
“As of right now, it’s a tie between all three Florida schools,” Sherwood said on Saturday. “As of right now, with the offers I have, I want to stay in Florida. I like Tennessee as well, but it would probably go Miami, Florida State, Florida then Tennessee.”
That’s not to say Sherwood is shutting every other school out of the process. As it turns out there are programs capable of challenging the only-Florida policy he’s recently set. If certain offers arrive, the touted defensive back may reconsider his stance.
“Maybe Alabama or LSU,” Sherwood said. “That’s about as far as I’d go, I think those two could be in play.”
According to Sherwood, Miami is the program currently pressing the hardest to land his commitment, which is significant considering Sherwood’s desire to feel “needed” by whichever school he chooses.
“The coaches from Miami show a lot of love,” Sherwood said. “They want me to be a part of the program Mark Richt even shows me he wants me. He tells me that. I can feel all the love there. I can start there.”
IN HIS WORDS: “I just want to make sure the school wants me before I go. That’s important for me.”
RIVALS REACTION: Miami seems to be the frontrunner here but offseason unofficial visits could change that. If Alabama decides to get involved with Sherwood, his list could be in for a shakeup. Still, even if that takes place, pulling him out of Florida will be tough. It’s not hard to imagine him eventually landing at any Miami or FSU.
