Sherman receives good news on academic front

We got a call last night from an excited Richard Sherman who said he got the news he was waiting for from one of his favorites. The two way standout received a call earlier in the day from Stanford head coach Walt Harris with the news that he was academically cleared by the Cardinal admissions department.
Sherman, 6-3, 170 pounds from Compton (Calif.) Dominguez had recently submitted his last few essays for his application to be complete. Getting past Stanford's tough admissions board is never an easy thing which is why Sherman was so excited when he got the call from Coach Harris.

"I thought I had a good chance but it was still very exciting when he told me," Sherman said. "Stanford is a school I've liked a lot for a long time and I actually did give some thought to committing on the spot when I found out I was cleared but I decided I still wanted to take my trips and go through the process a little more.
"Stanford is definitely high up on my list though and my leader right now. I'm going to visit there on (Jan. 13). I did have Oregon set up for that weekend but I had to move Stanford there. I'm not sure if I'll be able to reschedule the Oregon visit or not. I also have a visit set for Washington (Jan. 6) and I'm looking at possibly visiting Colorado and Nevada too but I don't have any dates yet."
This weekend, the Dons will play in the CIF Div III championship against Notre Dame, Sherman Oaks, the same team that knocked them out of the playoffs a year ago.
"We can't wait, we've been looking forward to playing against them for a long time," Sherman said. "They have a great team and it's going to be a great challenge for us but we're definitely looking forward to it."
