Sheppard names favorites

Colleges are taking a look at Yorktown (Va.) Grafton cornerback Lorenzo Sheppard. The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder is getting interest from the ACC and SEC primarily.
"I've been getting letters from Boston College, Maryland, Duke, East Carolina and a couple from Alabama," he stated. "I like Virginia Tech a lot because they have a good engineering program. I think North Carolina is my other leaders because they have a good program and aren't too far away from home either. The thing is I haven't heard from either of them yet."

This summer Sheppard plans to attend a handful of camps to Virginia, Duke and East Carolina.
Sheppard missed all of his junior year due to a shoulder injury.
"I sat out 2006 because of that and now am cleared to resume football," he said. "That's what I'm hitting the combine and camp circuit since I didn't play.
"I'm real hungry to get back on the field. It was the first time I missed playing football since I was six years old. I'm excited about having a good year next season."
Besides football, Sheppard is a standout in the classroom with a 3.8 GPA and excels in track and field finishing fourth in the district in the 300 hurdles.
