Shepherd considers some visits

X'avier Shepherd is not hearing from many new programs but the Lakewood, Calif., wide receiver is willing to take his time and see what happens early in his senior season.
The three-star prospect has offers from Arizona, Cal, Colorado, Fresno State, Oregon State, UCLA and Utah and said he's waiting to see if others get involved.

"There are no new offers," Shepherd said.
"I'm just trying to learn more about all the schools recruiting me. I'm planning on working and hopefully I can get more connections and maybe attract some more offers early in the season."
Shepherd, a 6-foot, 175-pound recruit, said he doesn't have any leaders yet but two Pac-12 teams in particular have kept a close watch on him this off-season.
The Lakewood standout is planning to take some trips late this summer - possible unofficial visits to Utah, Washington and Colorado are being considered - and that could be a big deal in his decision-making process.
"I know I'm most likely taking an unofficial visit to Utah but I have to talk to the coaches a little more and see what a good time would be," Shepherd said.
"I could be making that trip and I also want to get up to Washington and check out that campus and get to know the coaches more.
"I don't think there are any favorites but Utah is recruiting me a little bit harder than some of the other schools. Colorado is another one and I think I'm going up there, too. Those two schools aren't the favorites but their coaches talk a lot to me and they talk about me coming up there."
Rivals.com rates Shepherd as the No. 58 wide receiver in the 2013 class and No. 43 in the California state rankings.
