Shelton is ready to shine

Sachse (Texas) is quietly becoming a big-time producing high school of D1 talent. There is a number of high caliber college recruits in this year's class, but there are also underclassmen like Nate Shelton. Shelton, a 6-foot-1 and 185-pound wide receiver was a standout at a Dallas area came this summer.
"I hold myself to a very high standard," Shelton said. "I felt like I had a good performance at the Nebraska satellite camp, but it being the beginning of summer I feel like now I could perform twice as good as I did that night.

"This summer I've been really focusing on speed and explosiveness while keeping my balance and my core strong. I have gained seven pounds while adding a lot of deep field speed to my game and I plan on it showing big this fall."
There is a lot of top talent for Shelton to look up to in the class of 2016 including multiple, future D1 players at his position. He says that he's fortunate to be surrounded by not only the talent, but a group of players that are more focused on team and see the real value of being a team.
"Last year everyone on the team had a core value to push each other upward and always be positive no matter what the situation was. I'm going to be one of the main guys on the team this year leading us and I look to bring that value along to this year.
"The whole squad is actually motivated and excited to hear our name at the top of the district list. We want to show people why no one should ever sleep on us and want to show how much this team can accomplish despite what people predict us to do or not do."
The recruiting proces has been slow for Shelton, but it will take off and when it does it could be like a rocket. He says that when people do their homework on him that they will be shocked with what they find. Shelton is driven to be the best that he can possibly be and he has the confidence to carry him there.
"If I could summarize my recruiting process so far I would use the term 'diamond in the dirt'," Shelton said. "I am what every team is looking for, but haven't been discovered quite yet. I am very confident in my ability to perform at the highest level in my class and I know that I have what it takes to be the best wide receiver in my class.
"With good exposure and the hard work ethic that I always put into my craft and workouts I think I have what it takes to perform just as well at the D1 level when my time comes."
