Shelton down to two

In the last few days, we’ve talked to several players who have narrowed their choices down to just two colleges. Yet another player who is down to two is Compton (Calif.) Dominguez defensive lineman Michael Shelton.
Shelton, 6-3, 225 pounds is one of the top defensive ends in the West region this year. He has had a big senior season and has taken his game to another level in the playoffs. Shelton had 16 sacks in the regular season and had added seven more in the playoffs as the Dons have played their way in to the CIF Div III Championship game this Friday against Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame.

On the recruiting front, Shelton is down to a pair of Pac 10 schools but isn’t close to making his decision.
“It’s Arizona and Cal for me,” Shelton said. “Arizona came in for a home visit last night and it went really well. I like Arizona a lot and my mom got a really good vibe about them as well. They’re probably my top school but it’s also my only visit. Cal came in last week but I haven’t been able to re-schedule my trip there. I was supposed to go (Nov. 19) but I overslept.
“I’m really busy right now with football and I’m also playing basketball and we have a couple of tournaments over the Holidays that are out of state. I’ve played in two basketball games already and we have our Championship game in football this weekend. I might not be able to take a visit to Cal until the second or third weekend of January but I definitely want to visit before I make my decision.”
