Sheeran ready for Big Ten football

Cross River (N.Y.) John Jay wide receiver Dan Sheeran is headed to Wisconsin to play his college football, and is having no second thoughts regarding his decision.
The 6-foot-3, 200 pound Sheeran caught 29 passes for over 550 yards and scored eight times during his junior season. Sheeran also played free safety and intercepted three passes.

"I had offers from Wisconsin and Central Florida," Sheeran said. "And there was a lot of interest from Syracuse, Boston College, Maryland, West Virginia, and Rutgers.
"I had never seen any of the schools till I went out to Wisconsin in April. School was in session. It was just awesome. Everything seemed so awesome.
"Then I saw the football stuff and it was awesome too. I was out there for a spring practice and the spring game.
"I went around with Matt Bernstein. My coach now was an assistant coach at the school Matt Bernstein went to."
After his visit to Wisconsin Sheeran made visits to Boston College and Rutgers prior to his recent commitment to the Badgers.
"I'm not going to visit anyone else now," Sheeran said. "I think Wisconsin recruited me mostly for wide receiver, but they're not sure. I like wide receiver. Coach Palermo recruited me."
In addition to starting at both wide receiver and safety, Sheeran also returned punts and kickoffs during his junior season.
