Sheard to check out the Canes

Hollywood (Fla.) Hollywood Hills defensive end Jabaal Sheard will make an official visit to longtime favorite Miami (Fla.) this coming weekend and hopes to come away with a scholarship offer from the Canes.
"I'm excited about that," Sheard said. "I have no offer from them yet, but I'll see how I fit in with the team and check out their academics."

Sheard, who drew interest from Southeastern Conference programs like Auburn and South Carolina, currently is focused on three programs.
"I've got Pitt, Rutgers and Miami (Fla.) all even right now," he said.
Sheard visited Pittsburgh and Rutgers in January.
A Pac-10 program recently started showing him some attention and an official visit is possible.
"I'll try to go to Arizona State on (the weekend of ) Feb. 2," Sheard said.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder is a high (5.7) three-star rated prospect and currently is the nation's No. 23 weakside defensive end prospect.
