Shayne Hale commits to Pitt

SAN ANTONIO - Monroe (Pa.) Gateway linebacker Shayne Hale has committed to the Pitt Panthers. Hale made his announcement at the U.S. Army All American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas live on NBC.
Hale chose Pitt over offers from Ohio State, West Virginia, Virginia, Michigan, and more than 30 other schools. He took an official visit to Pitt the weekend of December 14th, shortly after his Gateway teammate Cameron Saddler committed to the Panthers.

In his senior year at Gateway, Hale racked up 116 total tackles and 9 sacks.
Hale is ranked the No. 2 prospect in Pennsylvania and the No. 56 overall prospect in the nation by Rivals.com. Hale could play linebacker or defensive end in college.
Hale is joined at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl by fellow Pitt commits Lucas Nix, a five-star lineman from Jefferson Hills (Pa.) Thomas Jefferson High School and Jonathan Baldwin, a four-star tight end from Aliquippa, Pa.
