The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Shavers has scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Arkansas, Kansas State, SMU and Tulsa. Texas Tech, TCU and Oklahoma State are also recruiting him and are near the top of his list along with those that have offered.”
“I’m like most people,” Shavers said. “If a school is interested in me, then I am going to be interested in them. These schools have offered me a scholarship to play football for them. I have got to take a good serious look at them.”
Shavers isn’t planning to rush the recruiting process.
“I want to take my time and find the best place for me,” he said. “I want to get to know the school and the program. I have to feel good about things. I’m going to be there for a while, so I need to spend some time finding the right place. When I make my choice, I want to be certain about it because I don’t want to go back on my word after I make a verbal commitment to a school.”
Shavers is planning on making unofficial visits this spring to see some of the schools on his list.
“I will either go to the spring games or just get to the school and see the campus and meet some of the people,” he said. “I might also work it so it could hit a camp at a school. I do know I am going to the NIKE camp in College Station in May, but that is the only camp I have down for sure. ”
