Shareef O'Neal commits to UCLA

Five-star forward Shareef O'Neal, the son of NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, didn't need long to make up his mind on a new school.

Just a few days after backing away from a commitment to Arizona amidst allegations of improper recruiting made against head coach Sean Miller in an ESPN article, the five-star power forward from Santa Monica (Calif.) Crossroads has committed to the Wildcats Pac 12 rival UCLA. Sources close to the situation have confirmed to Rivals.com that O'Neal will be announcing his decision publicly later on this evening.

Though he has a famous father, O'Neal's talent allows him to stand out on his own two feet.

A long and lean athlete, O'Neal is a bouncy athlete around the rim who can also step away from the rim and make jump shots to the three point line. His motor has been criticized at times but the skill and athleticism to play at a high level are all in place.

The No. 28 ranked player in the class of 2018, O'Neal is the second five-star to pick the Bruins along with center Moses Brown. The Bruins class also includes four-star perimeter players Tyger Campbell, Jules Bernard and David Singleton along with three-star center Kenneth Nwuba. The group gives UCLA the No. 2 ranked recruiting class in the country.
