Shanahan makes an important decision

North Huntingdon (Pa.) Norwin wide receiver Mike Shanahan has come to an important decision. The 6-foot-4, 197-pounder has decided which sport, football or basketball he'll pursue at the next level.
"I decided about a week and a half ago," he said. "I've decided on basketball. I don't know why I chose that, I guess it just felt right. It was a really tough decision, but I think I made the right one."

Shanahan held football offers from numerous colleges including West Virginia, Akron, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Stanford, Vanderbilt and Duke.
Now that he has chosen basketball, who is he looking at?
"The basketball schools I'm mostly looking at are Duquesne, Akron, Vermont, Lehigh, Bucknell and Michigan," he said. "I like that I can go to most of those schools, come in and get a lot of minutes my freshman year. I could possibly even start."
While he won't pursue football in college, Shanahan plans to play one last year of high school.
"Practice is going good," he said. "Our team is looking pretty good right now.
"I've been playing varsity since my sophomore year and I'm learning the game more and understanding it."
Norwin opens the season on August 31st.
