Rivals100 defensive lineman Shemar Stewart has a long list of college options but not all of them stand on level footing. Below, Stewart discusses the programs with which he is in most frequent contact.
ON SCHOOLS IN MOST FREQUENT CONTACT
“LSU, Miami, Georgia and Tennessee. I talked to them the most. Other than that, I’ve just kind of been chilling and working out.”
ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH MIAMI
“I feel great about Miami right to be honest. They’ve been doing a great job of recruiting me.”
ON WHAT HE LIKES ABOUT MIAMI
“It’s pretty clear that Coach Manny Diaz has it figured out now down there. He’s getting recruits. I think things are about to get a lot better for them and will be even better by the time i get there -- if I go there. Plus, Miami has crazy fans. I love it. They’re just crazy.”
ON HOW TENNESSEE GOT IN THE MIX
“I’ve just been talking to them and the coaches are showing me that they are actually one of the top programs of all time. I like them. I like what I’m hearing.”
ON GEORGIA
“They already are able to show me my role and what I would be doing if I came there, so I like that a lot.”
ON WHICH UGA COACHES RECRUIT HIM
“Coach [Dan] Lanning and Coach Bryant. Those two and Coach Kirby [Smart]. Coach Lanning is, like, a really cool guy. He’s funny. I like him a lot.”
RIVALS REACTION: It’s still early in Stewart’s recruitment, so guesses about where the Rivals100 defensive end may land are based on very little. That said, Miami and LSU seem to be the current frontrunners. Could that change? Sure. Other schools will join the fay and some may even drop out. For now, however, the Hurricanes and Tigers seem to be top of mind. Alabama, Florida and Georgia also remain heavily involved to some extent and should not be ruled out.
