SF: Five uncommitted, two uncommitted but looking

The skinny: The three-star prospect visited Minnesota just before the dead period and has trips set with Indiana (Jan. 15), Pittsburgh (Jan. 22) and Nebraska (Jan. 29) lined up.
If today was National Signing Day: Staying close to home would probably win out, giving the Hoosiers a slight edge. But Watts did mention Miami as a dream school so the Hurricanes are a program to watch down the stretch if new head coach Mark Richt extends the scholarship offer.
DT
Marcel Southall
Duncanville, Texas
The skinny: Southall already visited Oklahoma and intends to make three more stops before arriving at a choice. He has lined up a visit with Oklahoma State for the Jan. 15 weekend, and also has his sights set on trips to Miami and Ole Miss.
If today was National Signing Day: The Sooners would be the pick, mostly because they have had the only chance to woo the three-star defensive tackle. Southall also mentioned he has a high comfort level with Oklahoma's defensive staff.
OLB
Khaleke Hudson
McKeesport, Pa.
The skinny: The three-star prospect visited UCLA just before the dead period and has three official visits remaining before making a decision leading up to National Signing Day. Hudson has locked in trips to Michigan (Jan. 15), Penn State (Jan. 22) and Pittsburgh (Jan. 29), and said he doesn't have a leader among his final four.
If today was National Signing Day: Hudson would probably choose the Nittany Lions or the hometown Panthers even though he has only officially visited the Bruins. The distance factor might affect UCLA's chances with Hudson, whose mother was unable to make the trip to Los Angeles.
DB
Isaiah Simmons
Olathe (Kan.) North
The skinny: Simmons has a final four of Illinois, Louisville, Missouri and Nebraska, and he has only officially visited the Fighting Illini.
If today was National Signing Day: The Cornhuskers would have the inside track on the signature, based solely on how hard Mike Riley has been recruiting Simmons. But the three-star safety appears to be wide open heading into the final month.
COMMITTED, BUT LOOKING
DB
Jared Mayden
Sachse, Texas
The skinny: Mayden committed to Oregon in the summer but still took official visits to Georgia and Michigan during the season. The recruitment might not be done, either, as the four-star corner said Florida State would likely draw a visit Jan. 15. LSU is also in contention.
If today was National Signing Day: Mayden would stick with the Ducks. His interest in other programs seems to be minor and only about lining up backup options.
RB
Amir Rasul
Coral Gables, Fla.
The skinny: The Florida State commit told Rivals.com his pledge to the Seminoles is at about 80 percent, leaving the window open for several other suitors. He said he would visit USC, Alabama, Miami and North Carolina before National Signing Day.
If today was National Signing Day: Rasul would likely ink with Florida State given that 80 percent is still relatively high on the commitment scale. But that number seems to be dwindling with every passing day
