Seven offers in one day for 2019 CB Warren Burrell

Warren Burrell woke up Tuesday morning with 16 scholarship offers and he went to bed with 23. That's right — he added seven offers in one day.

Notre Dame got it started with an offer around 8am. The final school to offer that night was USC. In between, Auburn, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee and Vanderbilt offered.

Each school had at least one coach come through Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett that day and it is a day that will be hard for Burrell to forget.

"It was really a crazy feeling," said Burrell. "The dead period ended and I knew some coaches were going to come through the school, but I did not expect this to happen.

"It really happened fast. I was in school, so I couldn't put them out as they came in, so it was a little overwhelming.

"I was honestly stunned. It is just a blessing."

The biggest surprise of the day definitely was the offer from the Trojans. The 5-foot-11, 165 pound junior cornerback had heard nothing from USC prior to the offer.

Daniel Imatorbhebhe and Josh Imatorbhebhe are Trojans and both played at North Gwinnett, so that has had Burrell's eye on the USC program.

"This offer is a big deal to me. All of them are, but knowing Josh and his brother Daniel are there is pretty cool. Josh was a senior when I was a freshman, so he was like a mentor to me.

"USC is a big-time program, so I want to get out there and check them out."

Burrell said that about all seven schools. He was nowhere near a list of favorites yet, but Tuesday just added seven more schools to his list to evaluate.

"I have not visited any of the seven schools yet, but now I would like to see each of them," said Burrell. "This probably slowed things down a bit for me. I have been talking to my dad about visits and stuff, so this just added a lot for us to talk about."

One school he knows he will visit is Michigan. Burrell was born in Pontiac, so he knows a lot about the Wolverines.

"I was born in Michigan, then moved to Georgia when I was six or seven years old. I moved back to Michigan for a couple of years before getting back down to Georgia.

"I have some family members who are big Michigan fans, so this was a big offer.

"It is nice to know the home-state school for me likes me and has offered me. It is a great program and I want to get up there to check it out and I will be able to see family at the same time."

Burrell is taking the recruiting process slow and after Tuesday, it likely slowed things down a little more for him. He is now going to look over his schedule, talk with his father and work to start scheduling visits soon.

When he hits the road, he knows exactly what he is going to look for.

"I have three things that I want in a school and that are an education that sets me up beyond football, a place that feels like home and a place a fit in from a football standpoint.

"That is what I will be looking for when I get out on the road for visit."

Will he have another day like Tuesday where he pulls in offers at a rate of just about one offer an hour? Probably not, but he will add others and do not be surprised is he has 30 offers by the end of the month.

Burrell took it all in stride. He is as humble and grounded as they come and he knows he still has to keep working.

"I am just blessed to receive one offer, so each was a blessing and honor," said Burrell. "I definitely did not expect it to happen like that. I am just going to keep working hard and going as hard as I can.

"The offers are great and I am excited about them, but it doesn't change anything for me."
