Skinny: Each year, Fort Thomas Highlands turns out some of the top prospects in the Bluegrass State. This season will be no exception as Sean Sester will draw attention as one of the state’s premier linemen.
At 6-foot-8 and 265 pounds, the towering offensive tackle already has a number of major college programs knocking at the door.
“We’ve heard from literally everybody,” Highlands coach Dale Mueller said. “You name them, they’ve been in contact. Mainly, we’ve heard a lot from Kentucky, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Michigan, Louisville, Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan State and Wake Forest. I could go on and on.
“Sean doesn’t have any scholarship offers yet, but we’ve had our share of players here at Highlands over the years, and he’s going to be one of the best.”
Mueller said Sester has undergone quite a transformation since joining the varsity team two years ago.
“As a sophomore, he was about 6-4, 230,” he said. “He was 6-6, 260 last year, and now he’s about 6-8, 265. The kid won’t stop growing. He’s got a lot of room to carry more weight as he adjusts to his frame and gets into a good strength program.”
On the field, Mueller describes Sester as “everything you look for in an offensive tackle.”
“He does it all – great against the run or the pass. He’s a tough guy, he’s intelligent, extremely dependable. His guy rarely makes a play.”
Sester is also solid in the classroom (3.3 GPA) and will have no problem qualifying, according to Mueller.
