Position: Wide Receiver/Defensive Back
Size and Speed: Stearns stands 6-foot-2, weighs 185 pounds, runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, benches 225 pounds and has an outstanding 35-inch vertical jump.
Statistics: Stearns caught 30 passes for 630 yards and nine touchdowns. He averaged 21 yards per catch as a junior. On the defensive side of the ball Stearns picked off three passes from his safety position. Stearns also moved up from his safety position, lining up on the edge and recorded six sacks.
Honors: Stearns was an all-area and all-league selection as a junior.
Favorite Schools: Stearns is hearing from all the biggies. UCLA, USC, Michigan, Florida State, Notre Dame and Miami all have their hat in the ring for the services of this very talented two-way star from Serra.
The Skinny: Stearns is a multi-talented athlete who could be a D-I impact player on either side of the ball. His versatility is an added plus. When you recruit a player with Stearns’ versatility it’s almost like getting two players in one.
“Devin has real soft hands,” Serra head coach Scott Altenberg said. “He has the ability to take a five-yard stop route to the house.”
Stearns has great hops and is fearless when the ball is in the air. He will go get it.
On defense, Stearns is just as good against the run as he is against the pass. He’s physical and loves to hit.
Stearns will be a three-year varsity starter his senior season.
Keep an eye on Stearns, more than likely your favorite school is.
Stay tuned…
