Position: Center/Defensive Tackle
Size and speed: Luwe is 6-foot-2, weighs 260 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds.
Favorite Schools: Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Iowa State, Missouri, Arizona State.
Skinny: One of the starting offensive linemen for perennial Louisiana state power John Curtis Christian is starting to receive increased attention on the recruiting trail.
Alan Luwe (6-2, 260, 4.8) says he’s received numerous letters and invitations to camp this summer.
“Mississippi State, Kentucky, Iowa State and Vandy all want me to come and work out at their camps this summer,” he said. “I’m going to try to go to all of those. Arizona State and Missouri are also recruiting me.
“I don’t really have any big favorites at this point. My dad is a graduate of Iowa State. He played basketball. I grew up there, too, so I’ve got some interest in them. Vanderbilt recruited my brother (Alan) last year, so I got to go up there and see their campus. I was impressed with them.
"I'm just looking for a good combination of football and academics, a nice campus, and a good opportunity to play."
Luwe missed the first five weeks of his junior season due to a ruptured bursa sac in his right knee, but returned to help lead the Patriots to the state title. He’s a compact, but powerful lineman with impressive strength levels (405 bench, 550 squat) and quickness (4.8 forty).
He’s also a solid student, sporting a 3.2 GPA and a 17 on his first ACT attempt.
