SEC school leads for Montgemory

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard always seems to produce plenty of Division I talent and the class of 2011 is no exception. While Rivals100 safety Wayne Lyons receives most of the attention at the school, the Panthers have plenty of other prospects as well.
Offensive tackle Dwayne Montgemory anchors the line and the 6-foot-5, 265-pounder has colleges taking notice. This spring he worked his way onto the lists of several programs with three having already extended scholarship offers and a couple others seemingly close to doing so as well.

"I have offers from Kentucky, Toledo and FIU," Montgemory said. "Kentucky and Toledo were my first two to come in and FIU was more recent.
"It hasn't changed too much lately. I've started hearing a lot more from West Virginia and Michigan State, though. Neither one has said anything about offering just yet, but I'm going to keep talking to them and see where things go."
In addition to the two new programs in the picture, Montgemory has been in frequent contact with coaches from several other places as well.
"I've talked to coaches at all the schools, especially the ones that have offered," the three-star prospect said. "They just told me to keep working hard on the field, in the weightroom and in school.
"They want me to take the SAT and ACT over again. I did well on the tests the first time, but they just want to be sure. I'm scheduled to take them again in September, right when school starts."
Many players get noticed at one-day camps on college campuses during the summer. However, Montgemory has not been able to take advantage of those opportunities.
"I haven't been to any camps yet this summer," he said. "It's hard to get money to go and visit all the campuses. I did go to a skills camp in Coral Springs, but that's the only one."
When it comes to favorites, there is one school that stands out above the others at the moment.
"FIU and Kentucky are sticking out to me right now," Montgemory said. "I just feel like they both have good programs.
"I'm kind of leaning towards Kentucky, actually. I like that they're in the SEC. That's a big advantage for them. That's the type of school I would like to go to and I'm liking them right now."
Montgemory says a decision could be made in the not-too-distant future.
"I'm hopefully going to do something during the season or before," he said of a commitment. "I don't want to make it too late. I want to know where I'm going before January or February of my senior year."
