SEC school interested in Powell

Kameron Powell transferred from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., to Upland for his junior season and early on things are not going well.
Upland has been blown out in its first two games but Powell is staying positive and hopeful that things could change around this season.

"I can't believe this is happening," Powell said. "We need to pick it up in practice. There are a lot of transfers coming from all kinds of schools but we'll be OK."
The season is off to a slow start but the same cannot be said for Powell's recruitment.
Already the 5-foot-11, 178-pound prospect has been offered by Oregon State and Washington and Powell said last weekend that many other programs are sending early recruiting mail including one school from the SEC.
"I'm getting a lot of letters," Powell said. "I just got a written one from Auburn, all the Pac-12 and some Big Ten letters. I'm getting a lot of letters from everywhere."
The Upland defensive back has already been to the UCLA season opener and he's planning a trip to see USC play soon as well.
Powell is close with former Rancho Cucamonga teammates Chris Hawkins (USC) and Tahaan Goodman (UCLA) so he's hopeful both local programs pick up their recruitment of him soon.
"I know I'm going to USC for sure because my boy Chris Hawkins and Tahaan I'm going to see him play," Powell said.
"I saw him play last Saturday but I haven't planned anything else yet. I have to talk to my mother but we might be going up to Oregon State and Washington soon."
