SEC school enters picture for Thomas

Aldine (Texas) Nimitz athlete Michael Thomas was near the middle of his recruiting process until a Southeastern Conference school clouded the picture.
"Vanderbilt is really coming on strong and I've got to listen to them," he said. "I really had my top five set, but Vandy and Rice make it seven. I like the opportunity, but Vandy came in pretty late."

The three-star athlete Thomas took an official visit to Northwestern in September and Iowa State last weekend.
"It was a great experience at Iowa State," he said. "The game wasn't that good seeing they lost to Texas, but my visit was good. I got to talk with the staff and coach (Gene) Chizik and he told me their plan for me and the program."
While nothing is set up to date, Thomas will be officially visiting Boise State, Missouri and Stanford later this fall.
"I know I'll be going to that Stanford-Notre Dame game," he said. "I also like Rice."
Thomas has led Nimitz to a 6-1 record this season as a utility player. He excels at quarterback, running back, receiver and defensive back.
"We are second in the district right now," he said. "We have a lot to play for right now. We need to finish strong and go deep into the playoffs."
