SEC offer for 2013 DE

Class of 2013 defensive end Garrett Sickels of Little Silver (N.J.) Red Bank Regional had been receiving a great deal of interest during the early spring, but it was not until June when the offers began to come in. Currently with two offers, including one from one of the top programs in the country, Sickels is suddenly a name to remember.
"Everything has been great," said Sickels. "I got offered by the University of Florida on Monday and I was excited to be the first out-of-state offer for my class. Rutgers also offered me earlier this month. It's all just been great and a lot of fun."

All of this sudden success has come as a surprise to Sickels.
"It feels great," said Sickels. "I have two more years of high school to go, so I've been mainly focusing on this year's season, but it's just good to know that it's going to get better and better."
While Florida and Rutgers have already offered, Boston College, Miami, Florida State, Penn State, Wisconsin and Georgia have also been showing serious interest. Thus far, Sickels' only camp experience has been at Rutgers.
"I went to the Rutgers Big Man Academy," said Sickels, who plans to visit Florida and Georgia this summer. "It went great and there was good competition. Overall I did well and the visit was great. They also have a good coaching staff and facilities as well."
During his sophomore season, Sickels finished with 44 solo tackles, 9.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
"The season was good personally," said Sickels. "I made 1st Team All-Division and 3rd Team All-Conference."
