SEC has Whaleys attention

Beaumont (Texas) Central Rivals250 2016 running back Devwah Whaley has the attention of the SEC with offers from Ole Miss, Missouri, and Texas A&M. On Tuesday he welcomed another SEC offer this one coming from the Tennessee Volunteers.
"Oh man it's a blessing," Whaley said. "Tennessee has a great program and they have really, really good tradition. It's just a big deal to have an offer from them."

Monday was the first day college coaches could contact 2016 prospects on Twitter and the Volunteers took full advantage. In fact, before Monday, Whaley had not heard much from the Volunteers, but Tennessee have shown more recent interest than the other college programs.
"I talked to the running back coach and I had a good conversation with him," Whaley said. "He was just telling me what all they had to offer and that they had good tradition there."
While Whaley appreciates the interest Whaley currently has another SEC program standing out on his early list.
"Yes sir, I do. They're not necessarily my leader or favorite but they're starting to standout more and more and I'd have to say Texas A&M," Whaley said. "The program is great, the coaching staff, the facilities, everything…it's just great."
In addition to Texas A&M, Whaley mentioned Alabama and Texas as other teams who caught his attention, but there are a few reasons why the Aggies hold the current edge on the recruiting front.
"The big come up they made in two seasons, having Johnny Manziel and stuff," Whaley said. "And being able to rebuild and the recruiting class that came in in 2015 and the recruiting class that came in before made a big impact."
Whaley did not attend any college games over the weekend and he does not plan to attend a game this coming weekend. However, he did say he plans to attend a Texas A&M game at some point.
Whaley is currently ranked No. 191 in the Rivals250, No. 13 among the nation's 2016 running backs, and No. 21 in the Rivals.com Texas Initial Top 75.
Beaumont Central began the season Friday with a tough 40-34 loss to Beaumont West Brook. The Jaguars travel to Port Arthur Memorial on Friday.
