After an outstanding performance at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour in Chicago, Joe Mixon has heard a lot more from Alabama, and an offer might be close.

"They're just basically trying to see if I'm really serious about them, and then they said they were going to try to get me on the phone with (Nick Saban)," Mixon said. "That's pretty big.
"They were basically saying they wanted to see if I was serious or not. I guess I was one of their top guys. They want me to get down there on a visit and everything, so they're trying to get me to talk to Coach Saban, so hopefully I can talk to him soon and get the offer."
Georgia, UCLA and Oregon have emerged as favorites for Mixon, rated as the fourth-best running back and the No. 15 prospect overall in the 2014 class by Rivals.com, but the Oakley (Calif.) Freedom standout said an offer from the Crimson Tide would be huge.
Talking to Saban and landing an offer from Alabama could make Mixon's recruitment even tougher to figure out.
"They said they're going to get me linked up with him soon," said Mixon, who's mentioned Wisconsin and Oklahoma as possible official visit destinations. "Coach (Chris) Rumph told me he was going to get me on the phone with him.
"It would be really big."
The five-star running back said LSU has reached out more with a similar message. He's told the coaches in Baton Rouge the same thing -- that he'd love an offer from them.
"I'm hearing from Alabama and now LSU, too," Mixon said. "They were saying the same thing to see if I'm serious, and I told them I was definitely interested."
