THE LATEST: Stephon Wright has already been to Oklahoma and Texas A&M and the 2019 four-star defensive end wants to return this season.

The Los Angeles Cathedral standout spoke especially highly of the Aggies at the recent Battle at the Beach 7on7 tournament where he lauded coaches Jeff Banks and Terry Price and said, “those are my guys.”

Another one of the reasons he likes Texas A&M so much is because Wright thinks the coaches do an excellent job of pumping out NFL talent - look at what they did with Myles Garrett - and that could be a serious consideration as he focuses more on his recruitment.

As for Oklahoma, Wright was on campus working out this summer when then-coach Bob Stoops surprisingly resigned but he said the Sooners will remain a serious contender because he loves the rest of the coaching staff.

Wright has developed a good relationship with defensive ends coach Calvin Thibodeaux and that could be especially important as he tries to make a trip to Norman this season.

IN HIS WORDS: “I will possibly be going to an Oklahoma game and an A&M game. It’s been going good. We’ve been talking.”

RIVALS’ REACTION: Texas A&M and Oklahoma are clearly two programs Wright has focused on early in his recruitment and if Alabama offers that would be huge as well because he has always closely followed the Crimson Tide.

USC is without question another school to closely watch as his recruitment moves through his junior season.

The 2019 four-star defensive end is already pretty familiar with the USC program, has been to campus multiple times and has a former teammate at Los Angeles Cathedral, defensive end Hunter Echols, who will be a freshman with the Trojans.

The good news: Wright has really been highly interested by USC, Texas A&M and Oklahoma so far. The bad: There is still a long way to go in his recruitment as his junior season is just getting underway.
