Season is about to begin for Rivals100 OT

Rivals100 offensive tackle Vinston Painter is getting ready to start the season. The Norfolk (Va.) Maury prospect is keeping busy with scrimmages in preparation for the season opener on August 31st.
"We finished two-a-days last week," he said. "Over the weekend, we had a jamboree scrimmage against Oscar Smith, Landstown and Hampton. We beat all of them and did pretty well. I started both ways and had a lot of fun."

Following the scrimmage, the 6-foot-6, 317-pounder touched on his team this upcoming season.
"We've got a lot of young guys, but there is good chemistry going on with our team and we have a lot of good athletes," he said. "I'm doing a lot better too. I'm in better shape and my technique has improved. I learned a lot more this summer."
Painter and Maury start the season on August 31st against Phoebus.
"That's going to be one of our biggest, if not the biggest game of the year," he stated. "That'll determine the way our season goes."
On the recruiting front, little has changed for the four-star prospect.
"I haven't really been thinking about it much lately," he said. "I'm focusing on the season since that's what is going on. I plan to probably take my official visits throughout the season, but if I can't I'll do them later."
Two of those visits appear to be to Florida and Virginia Tech. Does Painter know who the others will be?
"I don't know," he said. "I do want to take all five of those visits or at least try. Then I'll decide at the Army All-American game if I'm invited."
The Hokies and Gators are leading for Painter at this time.
"Tech is there because they are in-state and a couple of my teammates are up there," he said. "I've been talking to the coaches for awhile and if they weren't the first, they were one of the first schools to show interest in me.
"Then with Florida, I talked to the coaches and met the players on my visit down there. I had good unofficials to both schools."
Some rumors have circulated recently that Painter may make one unofficial this season to Virginia Tech on September 1st.
"It's a possibility that I'll be going to Blacksburg, but I'm not really sure right now. I've got to talk to my coach."
