SCs Byers set to start taking visits

Rock Hill (S.C.) Northwestern defensive end Roderick Byers is sitting on four scholarships. The 6-foot-4, 262-pounder is beginning to contemplate unofficials including one this weekend.
"I still haven't gone anywhere yet," he said. "I'm going to Georgia Tech on the 17th and then hopefully I'll make it to Wake Forest sometime. I plan on taking an official to Texas Tech when I can to see how that is. I also am planning to use all five of my official visits in the fall."

Byers holds offers from Maryland, South Carolina, Texas Tech and Wake Forest at this point in time. Is anyone else close to pulling the trigger?
"I believe Georgia Tech will once they see my transcript. Virginia Tech seems really interested the last time I talked to them."
According to Byers, South Carolina is sticking out early in the race.
"I like the direction they seem to be going in," he said. "They get a lot of quality players from the state and they aren't too far away from home. My family can come and see me play. They also don't have too many defensive ends or tackles. Most likely I would redshirt, but any chance I can get to play early is a good thing."
