Scott is latest commitment for the Orange

Greenbelt (Md.) Eleanor Roosevelt athlete Nico Scott gave his verbal commitment to Syracuse Friday night. What caused the 5-foot-9, 171-pounder with 4.54-second speed to finish his recruitment so abruptly?
"I told coach White Friday night I was committing because I just felt like it was the right time," he said. "He was very excited and told me to get ready to win some games next year.

"I feel pretty relieved to have it over with. It's hard to choose a school and I don't want to choose the wrong one, but I'm comfortable with my decision. I like Syracuse because of the school, players and coaches. Everyone seems together and plays as a team and they have a bright future. I also like that they have a great business program because I'm looking to major in business management. Finally, they just seemed like a good fit."
Scott has scheduled an official to Syracuse on December 10th. He also scheduled an official recently with Oregon State, is he still considering them and other schools?
"I might still take the official to Oregon State and ones to Boston College and Rutgers," he said. "I don't know for sure yet as I've got to sit down and talk it over with my parents."
The two-star prospect is preparing to get himself ready for college next year.
"Physically I'm going to prepare by running track and working with a personal trainer as hard as possible," he said. "My goal is to play as a true freshman and they mentioned it earlier in the recruiting process, but I know it's up to me.
"All I know is winning so I'm looking to bring that attitude and leadership to the defensive side of the ball for Syracuse. From what I've seen, they haven't gotten blown out that much this year which means their defense is getting the job done. They just need some more help on offense to turn it around."
