Schuman ready to lead

Burleson (Texas) has had some recent talent at the defensive end position with Kenny Mann who signed with Oklahoma in February. There are some big expectations around talented junior defensive end Trey Schuman and what he could become over the next couple of years.
"One of my main strengths is coming off of the ball and being able to read the play quickly," Schuman said. "Also my pass rush is very good due to my various moves, whether rushing inside, outside or stunting. I can also get into the gap and make the tackle or at least re-route the runner."

Schuman had a busy summer going to a number of camps beyond working hard in the weight room getting ready for his junior year. The 6-foot-3 and 245-pound defensive end says that he showed well at the camps, but he's still looking for his first offer.
"I went to camps this summer at SMU, Oklahoma, Texas and TCU. This summer I spent a lot of time on my speed and strength. I don't have any offers yet."
There is a lot of time between now and when Schuman will be sitting down to sign a letter of intent, but he says that he knows what he's looking for in a school. Schulman knows what career he wants to pursue and he says that he's looking for a school that is also committed to winning on the football field.
"I want to go somewhere that takes its athletic program just as serious as they do their academics program," Schuman said. " My job goal is to be an anesthesiologist so I would like to go somewhere with a pretty good medical program. As far as athletically I want to be involved in a program that is committed to winning."
There are some big expectations about this year's team at Burleson. One of the reasons is because of all of the returning starters from a year ago. Schuman says that only getting one round into the playoffs this year will be unacceptable and will fall short of the goals of this year's team.
"Personally I'm looking forward to my new size and strength compared to how big and strong I was last year," Schuman said. "As a team, I'm excited about how dedicated everyone is and how many returners have. Only winning one playoff game is not going to be acceptable this year."
