Schools visiting Jersey junior

Junior defensive tackle Jamil Pollard of Westville (N.J.) West Deptford has begun to focus on recruiting, after his season ended in disappointment with a loss in the state championship game. The big lineman has a number of programs showing serious interest, including a couple that stopped by his school recently.
"NC State and Rutgers stopped by last week and watched me," said Pollard. "Rutgers has shown me a lot of interest."

Pollard, who is 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds, was invited to attend a number of games this fall, and managed to attend two.
"I attended a Rutgers and Penn State game," said Pollard. "I was also on my way to Notre Dame, but my car couldn't make it. UConn was too far and Michigan State was too far, but those are the games I got invited to."
Recently, Pollard decided to put more of his focus on the gridiron.
"I was going to wrestle, but I want to just lift hard instead and work on my conditioning more," said Pollard. "I'm also going to an Elite Lineman Challenge in February."
This fall, Pollard was an anchor on both sides of the line for West Deptford.
"I don't know my stats yet, but I did well," said Pollard. "And we lost our state championship game 19-8. I need to work on my discipline, as well as my conditioning and burst off the ball."
