Schools still chasing Ridley, Burgess-Becker

Despite being committed to Alabama since April, Calvin Ridley and Shawn Burgess-Becker of Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch continue to be recruited by other schools.
The two are best friends and have long been thought of as a package deal. Both are planning to graduate in December and enroll early. Though Tuscaloosa is assumed to be their landing spot, both mentioned Miami as the school after them the hardest, and Ridley added Florida State and Georgia still talk to him, while Burgess-Becker mentioned Auburn as a school staying in touch.

"I'm not sure yet," said Ridley, a five-star receiver who stands at 6-foot, 178 pounds, when asked if he would be reopening his process for any of the interested schools recruiting him.
"I'm pretty solid coming into it," said Burgess-Becker, a 6-foot, 194-pound four-star who is listed as an athlete but will play defensive back in college. "I'm just getting ready for the next step in my career."
Neither Ridley nor Burgess-Becker have taken an official visit and neither have definitive plans on taking one.
"I don't know yet," Ridley said. "I'm going to have to talk with my coaches and my mom and see what's good."
Ridley mentioned the possibility of officially visiting Alabama for the Iron Bowl, and also said he intends on taking an unofficial visit to Miami for the Florida State game. It's assumed that both will take those visits together.
As for Miami, Ridley said the Canes are persistent in their efforts to flip him.
"I talk to them all the time," he said. "I'm going to their game on the 15th and we'll see what's up."
Burgess-Becker said there was no other school after the duo more than Miami.
"They want me to come in and take another look at the school and really sit down with the coaches and see what I think of the team," he said.
Florida State is also holding out hope of landing yet another five-star in Ridley to its already-stellar 2015 recruiting class.
"They throw the ball a lot," Ridley said. "And the coaches are pretty cool."
Georgia assistant Tony Ball is also staying in touch with Ridley.
"Same as Florida State," he said when asked what the Bulldogs staff is saying.
Burgess-Becker said Auburn maintains contact with him.
"I talk to the defensive backs coach and he said they want me to come back and visit," Burgess-Becker said.
As for Alabama, the Tide are the front-runners to land the package deal and will look to secure their commitments by January.
"We talk all the time," Ridley said of the Tide coaching staff. "Everything's going good."
"For me and my decision I felt Alabama was the best situation for me because I wanted to get away from home and stay focused," Burgess-Becker said. "I only want to worry about the big things I'm trying to achieve, like reaching the next level after I leave college."
