Schools interested in Mahan

Late last year Robert Mahan got his first taste of the recruiting process as the young prospect from Atco (N.J.) Winslow Township watched a Rutgers practice along with teammates and fellow juniors Bill Belton and DeVante Waugh.
Mahan, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound versatile athlete, said he greatly enjoyed the trip, though he was unable to have a real conversation with Rutgers' head coach Greg Schiano.

"We went (to Rutgers) around November or December right at the end of our football season. I definitely enjoyed it. We got to go around the practice facility and watch them go through a quick practice. Then we went inside and they showed us where they eat.
"Right now I'd have to say my favorite would have to be my home state (school) of Rutgers."
Though the Scarlet Knights have not yet offered Mahan he certainly has the athletic potential to earn a free ride from a Division I school.
Last year Mahan lined up at both safety positions and tight end, but his coach has told him that colleges are recruiting him to play either Will linebacker or strong safety.
"I've been getting mail from Pitt, Boston College, Duke and Temple," he explained.
"I was invited to Syracuse's junior day but I have a Badger 7-on-7 this weekend at Rutgers, so I won't be able to go to Syracuse. My dad says I've also been invited to junior days at Tennessee, Pitt and North Carolina."
