Schools gaining interest in NC trio

Charlotte (N.C.) West Charlotte is a program that has been on the rise since head coach Peter Gilchrist took over. After receiving plenty of recruiting attention last year due to standout cornerback Rod Council, Gilchrist could be even busier this year.
"We have three kids who could go Division One this year," said the head coach. "Wideout Trenton Guy has breakaway speed and is a real playmaker. Offensive tackle Travis Ashford is huge and moves his feet well and defensive end Treon Harris still has some growing to do, but he has a good motor and is tough to stop."

Guy is a pure speed receiver who, if he gets a step on you, can take it to the house on any play. The 5-foot-9, 170-pounder is receiving mail from Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and NC State so far.
Ashford could be the most highly-coveted of the trio based on his size. He's getting mail from Tennessee, UNC, NC State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Penn State.
Finally, Harris is the most interesting of the prospects. An inch or two too short to play defense in college, he's an excellent lead blocker as a fullback and a very physical player. If he can shave some time off his 40-yard dash, he could earn a spot somewhere. He is getting mail from South Carolina, Virginia Tech and NC State.
"Things will really heat up after the NIKE Camp," said Gilchrist. "That's when things started to happen for Rod last year and I expect a few teams to show great interest in May."
The trio plan to attend the NIKE Camp in Atlanta, Ga.
