Scholie crunch hurts DT

Every recruiting season there are stories of heartbreak where a player loses out on a scholarship opportunity because a team that offers runs out of scholies.
This season is no different. Defensive tackle Steven Jackson (6-3, 295, 5.01) from Oxnard, Calif., called Colorado State to commit they informed that someone already committed before him.

The downside to this story is that everyone thought Jackson was going to commit to the Rams so other teams that were recruiting him got busy and filled up their classes too.
Utah also offered Jackson a scholie but filled their class. So now Jackson is now in a recruiting void. Even though Jackson had offers, he doesn’t have a team.
Bowling Green heard about Jackson’s dilemma when they were out in California recruiting JUCO prospects. Bowling Green took game tape on Jackson and said that they will be getting back to him.
Jackson is one of those players who could be offered
Jackson battled through double teams to account for 124 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, two fumbles caused and one fumble recovery as a senior. He was selected 1st-team all-CIF, all-county, all-league and all-academic for his efforts in 2002.
