St. Paul (Minn.) Cretin-Derham Hall three-star offensive lineman Joe Schafer was one of the most heavily recruited prospects in the state of Minnesota.
Big Ten powers Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota coveted the 6-foot-5, 265-pound offensive tackle prospect, but he came to a decision on his college destination on Saturday.
Shafer, the No. 4 overall prospect in the state of Minnesota, has committed to the Wisconsin Badgers his mother has confirmed to Rivals.com.
"Yes, it's true. I can confirm Joe has committed to Wisconsin," said Peggy Schafer.
Schafer becomes commitment No. 10 in the 2008 class for Wisconsin and joins Bolingbrook (Ill.) running back Erik Smith and Ashwaubenon (Wis.) linebacker Michael Taylor as new Badger commits this weekend.
Schafer is rated as the nation's No. 38 overall offensive tackle prospect.
