Three-star wide receiver/cornerback Orlando Scandrick (5-11, 175, 4.5) from Los Alamitos, Calif., recently returned from Washington State and let’s just say the temptation to commit to the Cougars was high.

“Washington State was great,” Scandrick said. “I didn’t commit to them but I was real close though. I just thought it was smart to wait.”
“Coach (Bill) Doba and Coach (George) Yarno will come by my house on Monday,” Scandrick said. “Fresno State and Boise State are also trying to set up an in-home visit but the date is undetermined.”
“Before I commit to Washington State I wanted to make sure that I could get in the school,” Scandrick said. “I wanted to have my counselor at Los Al and the person who would be my counselor at Washington State to talk.”
“(True frosh WR) Michael Bumpus was my host and was he was great,” Scandrick said. “I also spent a lot of time with my former teammate at Los Al, (true frosh OL) Dan Rowlands.”
“The team and the coaches are close,” Scandrick said. “I liked Pullman because the city was small and had a family atmosphere.”
“I’m still going to remain being open,” Scandrick said. “I have a visit set to Oregon on January 7th if I don’t commit before then.”
Scandrick still has visits set to Colorado State on December 3rd, Fresno State on December 10th and Oregon on January 7th.
The talented two-way player has 40 catches for 717 yards and eight touchdowns so far this season. He has also collected 27 tackles and two interceptions from his cornerback position.
Scandrick will also be able to help a team returning kicks. He has returned 14 kicks for 529 yards with a long return of 91 yards for a touchdown. He averages 37.8 yards per kick.
“I am very open to playing either wide receiver or defensive back,” Scandrick said. “I just want get there.”
“I want to play defensive back,” Scandrick said. “There aren’t many 5-11 wide receivers in the league but with hard work and dedication I think I have a better chance getting to the league as a defensive back.”
Scandrick is already qualified with a 2.8 GPA and a 870 SAT.
“I know I can do better on my SAT,” Scandrick said. “That’s why I’m going to take it again.”
