Playing alongside standout wide receiver Jeremy Childs, Los Alamitos (Calif.) two way athlete Orlando Scandrick can often get lost in the shadows but make no mistake, he’s a legitimate high Div I prospect in his own right.

Scandrick, 5-10, 170 pounds excels at both receiver and cornerback and is getting looks on both sides of the ball. As a receiver, he had a standout showing at the NorCal Nike Camp where he clocked a 4.59 in the 40, jumped 31 inches in the vertical and looked very good in the position and one on one drills. In the secondary, he has very good cover skills and made a huge play in the Griffins 31-24 double overtime win over Edison, Huntington Beach last night intercepting a Charger pass near midfield and weaving his way 50 yards to the Edison two yard line to set up a Charger touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
On the recruiting front, Scandrick recently canceled a visit that was set for this weekend but does have three other visits lined up.
“I was supposed to visit Washington State this weekend but I wanted an offer first and they said they couldn’t do that right now,” Scandrick said. “They told me they only have a handful of offers and have some other players ahead of me. So my thing is I don’t want to waste a trip on a school that might not have a scholarship for me down the line.
“I’m going to visit UTEP (Nov. 12), Colorado State (Dec. 3) and Fresno State (Dec. 10). Those are the main three schools I like right now. I like Coach Price a lot at UTEP and think his offense would be fun to play in. Colorado State and Fresno State have both been recruiting me for a long time and I like the coaching staffs at both schools as well. I’ll probably be ready to make my decision after taking all my trips.”
