Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerian's Tegray Scales is one of the top two uncommitted linebackers in the Midwest, but he has yet to schedule or take an official visit.
The 6-foot, 206-pound Scales holds more than a dozen offers and has schools that want to host him for official visits, but the high school wrestler is having trouble finding open weekends to make those trips.
"I did talk with (schools) about it and we are trying to work around my schedule," Scales said. "Most of them are trying to go on the same date - the 24th. So, I'm not sure when I will be taking them.
"I know football is what I am going to college for, but when I am in a sport, I don't like to miss it. I'm trying to work around my schedule without missing an event."
The three schools that are trying to line Scales up for the Jan. 24 official visit weekend are Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota. Scales also lists West Virginia as a top school in his recruitment and is still looking at a possible visit to Morgantown.
"West Virginia has been a big part of this recruitment and I've been keeping in touch with them," Scales said.
Oklahoma is another program still being considered by Scales, but when official visits are taken Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and West Virginia are the most likely destinations.
"The thing with Oklahoma is I like them and they are still in my top five," Scales said. "The only reason I named those four schools (for official visits) is because they are closer and probably the best for me to work around me schedule."
Earlier this month, Scales welcomed Indiana assistant coach William Inge and Minnesota assistant Jim Zebrowski at his home.
"They came by the house and they came by the school," Scales said. "Coach Inge is real good around the family as is Coach Z. They both liked my parents and my parents liked them both. It was real comfortable when they were at the house.
Scales has dropped down to the 195-pound weight class in wrestling this winter and boasts a 9-1 record on the season.
