SC receiver headed to the ACC

The Demon Deacons picked up a commitment from Anderson (S.C.) T.L. Hanna wide receiver Cameron Ford. The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder chose Wake over offers from Kentucky, North Carolina State and Vanderbilt.
"He actually committed last Sunday," T.L. Hanna head coach Scott Parker said. "He was recruited heavily by North Carolina State and was leaning that way, but Wake turned up the heat and he had a great visit and really liked it there. I think that in combination with the Amato situation turned him over to Wake Forest. I do feel he was waiting it out for Clemson and South Carolina, but they never took an interest in him."

What did Ford like about Jim Grobe and the Demon Deacons that got him to head to Winston-Salem?
"I think more than anything else, it was the fact that they told him he could play offense," he said. "Wake used that very effectively to get him as other teams like NC State wanted him to be a linebacker or safety.
"I also think a lot of it had to do with his recruiter, Keith Henry. He did a tremendous job and was honest with Cameron throughout."
Parker believes Wake Forest is getting a very underrated prospect.
"I think a lot of schools are going to wonder why they didn't recruit him once he gets to college," he said. "I've been coaching 23 years and he's a different kid than I've seen before. He's big and rangy, but when the ball is in the air he'll come down with it.
"I personally think he's more of an offensive player, he just doesn't have that killer mentality on defense. He is tremendous though and one of the most underestimated kids. He's big, strong and has terrific foot skills due to the fact he plays soccer. I can say they are getting one heck of a football player."
