Saunders has a new leader

Durham (N.C.) Riverside defensive lineman Wesley Saunders has a new leader and recently received a surprise scholarship offer in the mail.
Sunday, the 6-foot-5, 271-pounder told Rivals.com that he had visited North Carolina unofficially during the weekend and came away with the Tar Heels in the lead.

"UNC right now is at the top of my list," Saunders said. "I enjoyed going over there and hanging out with all of the coaches and the players."
Behind the Tar Heels are South Carolina, N.C. State, East Carolina and Louisville (order as mentioned).
The Cardinals sent an offer in the mail last week.
"It was totally out of the blue," Saunders said. "I got my first letter from them and then a few days later, they sent me an offer. It was pretty weird."
North Carolina passed South Carolina at the top of Saunders' list, but the Gamecocks are still in the mix.
"Everything I've heard about them from a family friend (Detroit Lions defensive end and former South Carolina standout Kalimba Edwards) has been very good," Saunders said. "I used to go down and watch just about every game they played."
Saunders added that he is not close to making a final decision, but he does have an idea of when he might commit.
"I hope to make a decision a few days before the start of my season," he said. "Some time in August."
Saunders plans to make unofficial visits to South Carolina, Clemson and N.C. State in the near future. He will attend the NIKE Camp at Clemson on May 21.
