Sapulpa returns top offensive prospects

Though some of the bigger programs in the state of Oklahoma get plenty of looks, this year it is coach Mike Hainzinger and Sapulpa (Okla.) High School that have an impressive group of prospects coming back.
It all starts on offense with wide receiver Michael Cashon and quarterback J.D. Johnson who has great size and arm strength, standing at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds.

"I'll tell you what, it's a special group this year," Hainzinger said. "Our wide receiver, Michael, had 500 yards receiving and seven touchdowns this past season before he got hurt midway through the season."
"When he got hurt, that really hurt us."
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect has been receiving interest from regional schools and others, but Hainzinger says some bigger local schools may get in the mix.
"Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have taken a look at him but they haven't sent any offer yet," Hainzinger said about Cashon.
Johnson threw for 1,235 yards and seven touchdowns before injuries piled up and hurt the passing game last season. However, before the running game became the focus, the signal caller impressed many people with his performance.
"He's got a cannon and he can throw it deep," Hainzinger said. "J.D. has been going to a quarterback coach over at Tulsa and he's been working with him for a year. He had a great year with his stats considering we started running the ball more as the season went on."
Athlete Kiwon Cook and running back Edwin Nero are also two players that have made a difference for Hainzinger and his team. Nero put together 1,008 all-purpose yards and big plays on defense.
Any way you slice it, it could be a big year for this talented group of players returning for what looks to be a big senior year.
"We're excited about having all these guys back," he said. "This is one of the best groups we've had in some time."
