San Diego sleeper waking up

There are many reasons why some players fly under the recruiting radar. One of the most obvious reasons is when a player moves and changes schools. It makes it even tougher when the player moves from one coast to another. Add into the equation a coaching change and things get tougher still.
Linebacker Sean Rush (6-1, 205, 4.6) from San Diego (Calif.) Otay Ranch played his sophomore year in Florida where he made his name and since he comes from a military family when Uncle Sam gives his orders the family moves.

Rush played his junior season at Otay Ranch and had an outstanding year accounting for 107 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, five sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. His performance saw him earn all-league honors in 2006.
Rivals.com first met Rush at the Junior Day held in Anaheim in early spring and at that time he measured in at 6-0, 195, but since then he has grown to 6-1 and now weighs 205.
Rush is one of the reasons Otay Ranch stands a respectable 4-2 (1-0 league). In those six games, Rush has racked up 47 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four fumbles, three quarterback hurries, three sacks and two fumble recoveries.
On the offensive side of the ball, Rush is playing some tight end. He has nine catches on the year to go with 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He also has on blocked PAT.
When you perform at this level D-I schools usually take notice and they have in Rush's case.
"Colorado State called to set up a visit sometime in December," Sean Rush, Sr., (Rush's Dad) said. "We haven't set the date yet.
"UNLV is also calling Sean every week," Rush Sr., said. "They just want him to know that they are watching him.
"Cal invited him on an unofficial visit to take in a game when they played Arizona. Sean really liked Cal's atmosphere and he was happy to talk to his position coach. Cal's regional recruiter told Sean that he will be watching and requested tape for a senior season evaluation.
"Via email he received requests for senior film from Colorado and Boston College," Rush Sr.,. "We sent them out last week and are waiting to hear from them.
It's going to be interesting how the rest of Rush's recruitment turns out.
