San Diego QB stock rising

One of the Golden State's top quarterback prospects for the class of 2010 is Pete Thomas (6-5, 215, 4.9) from El Cajon (Calif.) Valhalla. He has four offers on the table and is currently getting a lot of recruiting attention from both USC and UCLA. He took in junior days recently at both schools. He also has another Pac 10 junior day scheduled in April.
"I liked USC's junior day a lot," Thomas said. "I met with (USC quarterback coach and assistant head coach) Jeremy Bates and I was able to spend a lot of time with him."

"I also was able to spend time with (head coach) Pete Carroll and (offensive coordinator) John Morton. "I like the whole energy to USC's program and its intensity."
"I also went to UCLA's junior day," Thomas said. "I liked it a lot too."
"I spent 30 minutes with (offensive coordinator) Norm Chow and about an hour with (head coach) Rick Neuheisel. Then I went to UCLA's basketball game."
"I was also able to see some of UCLA's conditioning workout regiment and that was pretty motivating," Thomas said. "The assistant (conditioning) coaches were high energy and intense."
On April 4th Thomas will take Arizona State's junior day.
"I'm excited about visiting Arizona State," Thomas said. "I've been talking to Coach Dennis Erickson a lot."
"I can't wait to meet him (Erickson) and his staff. I will take in a scrimmage when I get there."
Thomas has offers from Boston College, Maryland, Northwestern and Arizona State.
What is Thomas looking for in a college?
"Tradition, academics and good coaching staff," Thomas said. "I don't think location will be a factor."
"One of the biggest things will be my relationship with the coaches and then of course academics."
"I would like to make my mind up before my senior season," Thomas said. "So I can concentrate on helping Valhalla win their first league and CIF Section championship."
In his more immediate future, Thomas has his sights on competing well at the NIKE Camp to be held in Los Angeles on April 19th.
"If I don't get chosen for the Elite 11 after the NIKE Camp," Thomas said. "I'll go the Elite 11 regional camp in Las Vegas. As of now I have no more camps planned."
Earned League Player of the Year, first-team all-area and first-team San Diego Section all-CIF as a junior after throwing for 3,169 yards, and 28 touchdowns against 5 interceptions while hitting on 68.3 of his passes.
