San Diego LB moving on up

California linebacker Scott White has to be one of the fastest-rising prospects in the entire nation, and his scholarship list reflects just that.
White, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound inside linebacker from San Diego Mission Bay, is now listing Florida State, USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Washington, Colorado and LSU as his top teams. He's received offers from all but Florida State and USC.

But that'll probably soon change.
"Florida State is coming on," White, who cam bench-press 305 pounds and squat 420, said.
"They just started to recruit me about a month ago, and I'd be very interested in them. It's the same thing with USC. It's a little bit closer to home than the others, but they haven't offered me at this point. If Florida State were to offer me, then they would be my favorite because it's Florida State"
White also talked rather glowingly about Oklahoma, a team that has come on strong with him the past few weeks.
"I like Bob Stoops," White said. "He's a great guy, and I love his style of play. Plus, the Oklahoma depth chart is in my favor and they have a great tradition for linebackers."
White opens up practice on Aug. 20 and is ready to rock and roll.
"I'm in the best shape of my life," he said. "I'm itching to go."
Just like the coaches are itching to get him on their commitment list.
