San Diego LB enjoys visit to Corvallis

Oregon State had a big recruiting weekend tripping in several top players from around the west region. One of those players was Vista (Calif.) linebacker Travis Goethel who said he had a great time on the visit.
Goethel, 6-3, 220 pounds is one of the top linebackers in the West region. He plays inside backer for Vista but could play any of the three linebacker positions. He's a tall, rangy athlete who covers a lot of ground, has very good football instincts and is a bit hitter as well.

The athlete had earlier visited Utah so the trip to Corvallis was the second official visit he has taken.
"It was cool, I liked just about everything about it," Goethel said. "It rained a lot, that was probably the only negative but it's not that big of a deal for me, I could get used to it if I ended up going there. There was about 10 players overall there and it was fun meeting a lot of people. I didn't get to spend a lot of time with the coaches because it was a game weekend for them but I'm going to call them up this week and talk a little more about what my role would be and how they see me fitting in to their scheme.
"The city was great and I liked it a lot. After the game, a bunch of us went out and had a good time. Greg Peat was my host and he's a cool dude, showed me around and told me really likes it there. He played at Mission Viejo which isn't too far from me and he said it was an easy adjustment for him to make moving to Corvallis.
"Overall, I would put it right on par with the trip to Utah. I couldn't say I liked one more than the other. They were both good and I'm very interested in both schools right now. As for other trips, I don't plan on setting any others until after our season is over. We're in the playoffs right now so that's where all my focus us. I'm still looking at all the same schools- UCLA, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Colorado and San Diego State.
"All of those schools have offered except Notre Dame but I'm talking with them a lot. I may just take an unofficial visit to San Diego State but I'm not sure. There has been a lot talk lately that there could be a coaching change there so I don't know if I want to get to know a whole new coaching staff or not. We'll play it by ear but right now, those are all the schools I like in addition to the two I visited obviously and I don't have a leader in that group. I want to take all five of my trips before I make my decision."
