San Diego DE visits Midwest

San Diego Mission Bay defensive end Marcus Smith has been on a lot of West Coast schools list for awhile now. But it looks like he’s going nation-wide now.
Smith made an official visit last weekend to Oklahoma, where he came away impressed, but maybe not as impressed with the West Coast schools he knows more about.

"I hear a lot from Washington, Oregon, UCLA, USC, Fresno State, Arizona State, and have been hearing from Oklahoma as of late," Smith said.
"Oklahoma called last Monday and told me to join Scott (White) for the visit. and I knew it would be a good game and I wanted to check them out anyways."
Smith though says the West Coast may be a tough thing to shake out of him, though.
"I liked the visit, and it was a neat place,” Smith said. “But it would be tough to leave everything I've known. I sit and watch Pac 10 football on TV every weekend, and I grew up watching teams like UCLA, USC and Washington. It would be a change for me to go to a place like Oklahoma. I’m interested, but it’s going to be different if I don’t go somewhere near home.”
Smith does not have any scholarship offers at this point but with his continued solid play, he expects them to come rolling in soon.
“I’ve been playing well,” Smith, who didn’t know his stats, said. “The coaches say I look good on film. I’m just going to keep working hard.”
