San Antonio star has UTEP offer

San Antonio (Texas) Madison athlete/dual-threat quarterback Christian Caflisch is one of the top players in San Antonio and he's starting to get the type of attention you'd expect from a player of his stature. The 6-foot-2, 178-pound two-star prospect has improved his overall game quite a bit and is now ready to show that he has the tools to be a Division I prospect.
"I've been working a lot on my throwing," he said. "We are running the spread offense this year, and we'll be passing more than previous years. It will be good for me to have to pass more, but it is definitely different."

Caflisch, who clocked in at 4.68-seconds in the 40-yard dash at the Ft. Worth NIKE Training Camp, has an offer on the table from UTEP. It's one of hopefully many more to come.
"UTEP is my only offer right now," he said. "You know, they really do have a good program there. Coach (Mike) Price is turning that place around. They are an exciting team to keep an eye on."
UTEP isn't the only program showing interest.
"I've been talking to coach (Bob) DeBesse from Purdue, coach (Doug) Meacham from Oklahoma State and coach (Mark) Tommerdahl from Texas A&M. There are some other schools I stay in contact with, too, like UTEP.
"Purdue is my top team right now. I get along with coach DeBesse really well. They have a real good program there, too. They want me to be an athlete or a receiver. They haven't offered, but I know they're sending someone down on Friday to see me practice."
Caflisch said he's starting to think about setting up some official visits soon.
"I know Air Force wants me to come up for a visit," he said. "UTEP, as well. I am pretty sure I will make the UTEP visit, but I'm not sure about Air Force yet. I want to see what happens over the next few weeks before I make a decision.
"I want to make my decision early. We'll see what happens, so I'm not going to rush into things. Right now I just want to focus on the season and see what happens. Who I hear from, who I like, all that stuff. Then I will make my decision on visits."
