San Antonio Shocker: Will Powes pick stick

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Waynesboro (Miss.) Wayne County five-star defensive tackle Jerrell Powe committed to LSU on national television about an hour ago at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. It was expected – by almost everybody – for him to pledge to the Auburn Tigers. However, out of the bag Powe pulled out a purple hat.
A purple LSU Tiger hat.

"It's LSU baby," Powe said. "I just want to say hey back to everybody back in Mississippi."
Powe, who is 6-foot-3 and 360 pounds, earlier today told AuburnSports.com that he was going to announce for the Tigers – the Auburn Tigers. He had been talking about Auburn all throughout the week in camp, but he then pulled out the LSU hat out of the bag.
"I committed to LSU, but that's not a solid commitment," Powe said. "I'm taking other visits. But I do really like coach Les Miles and the things he's doing at LSU."
So what about the quotes from Powe that said he's going to commit to Auburn?
"I never said I was going to commit to Auburn," Powe said. "I was never committed to Auburn officially."
So while the game might be over, the San Antonio shocker still might be played out all the way to signing day.
